Tour Details:
Come and experience the thrill of a self-drive adventure in the world’s third largest desert after Antarctica and the Arctic. You will drive your own Toyota Prado through this spectacular terrain under the watchful eye of our local guide. You will experience everything that the Sahara has to offer while staying in authentic Berber camps enjoying some camel trekking and walks in the desert. The tour will start and end in Marrakech with the chance to enjoy some of the tourist hotspots in and around the city.
The Sahara Desert covers a large part of the African continent – more than 3.5 million square miles, in fact. But only a small part of it is in Morocco. The Moroccan Sahara is located in the south and east of the country, mostly along the border with Algeria.
Morocco is a multifaceted destination, with exciting cities, wonderful coast, the Atlas Mountains and last, but certainly not least, the Sahara Desert. As big as the USA, this desert stretches from the Red Sea in the east and the Mediterranean in the north all the way to Morocco and the Atlantic Ocean on Africa’s western shore.
Most of the Sahara is comprised of rocky, stone plateaus, but in Morocco it becomes the archetypal desert of popular imagining, ditching the rocks for a rippling coat of towering dunes, which constantly change shape and colour, from brilliant orange to rosy pink.
