The Chobe River is the lifeblood of this remarkable wilderness area, drawing enormous concentrations of wildlife to its banks. The riverfront is particularly renowned for its elephants, with large herds often moving between the water, floodplains and surrounding woodland.Your first game drives introduce you to the rhythm of Botswana’s wilderness before the journey heads deeper into the country.

  • Exceptional elephant viewing
  • Large concentrations of wildlife around the river
  • Remote 4×4 exploration

Savuti — Into the Wild Heart of Botswana

The ancient, seasonally flooded grasslands of the Savuti are legendary for predator action. Large lion prides hunt buffalo across the open marsh, cheetah stalk the grassland edges, and wild dog move through on their vast home ranges. In the dry season, Savuti’s few water sources draw enormous concentrations of wildlife.

KHWAI COMMUNITY CONCESSION - Where Wildlife Roams Free

The Khwai Community Concession lies along the Khwai River in one of northern Botswana’s most wildlife-rich wilderness areas. A mosaic of waterways, open floodplains, woodland and grassland creates an exceptional habitat for a wide variety of wildlife.

The permanent presence of water attracts animals throughout the year, while the remote nature of the concession allows for an intimate and unhurried safari experience. This is wild Botswana at its most atmospheric, where elephants move through the woodland, hippos gather in the channels and predators patrol the surrounding plains.

Wildlife highlights in Khwai include:

  • Elephant herds moving between the river and surrounding woodland
  • Lion, leopard, cheetah & spotted hyena
  • African wild dog, one of the region’s most sought-after predators
