Experience one of Africa’s last truly wild frontiers on this unforgettable 10-day overland expedition through Zimbabwe’s spectacular Gonarezhou National Park. Designed for adventurous travellers seeking remote wilderness, exceptional wildlife encounters and breathtaking landscapes, this journey takes you deep into one of Southern Africa’s most untouched safari destinations.
Crossing the border into Zimbabwe and travelling via the gateway town of Chiredzi, the expedition ventures into Gonarezhou National Park and leaves the modern world behind — entering a vast wilderness of rugged terrain, ancient baobabs, winding rivers and abundant wildlife.
Several days are spent exploring the renowned Chipinda Pools region, where the Runde River attracts elephants, buffalo, hippos, crocodiles and an impressive variety of birdlife. With multiple nights based in one area, there’s time to experience the rhythms of the bush, track wildlife movements and enjoy unhurried game drives.
From here, the route continues on a scenic overland traverse to the iconic Chilojo Cliffs — striking sandstone formations rising dramatically above the Runde River, and among Zimbabwe’s most spectacular natural landmarks. Expect panoramic viewpoints, river valleys and remote wilderness tracks, with magnificent sunrises and sunsets over one of Africa’s most photogenic landscapes.

The expedition then ventures into the remote western reaches of Gonarezhou, an area rarely visited by tourists. Here, sandy tracks, vast open wilderness and complete solitude create the feeling of a true expedition. Wildlife sightings are often exclusive, and it’s not uncommon to spend an entire day without encountering another vehicle.
A built-in flexibility day allows the itinerary to adapt to weather conditions, wildlife activity, or simply to spend more time in a location that deserves it — a relaxed approach that ensures a richer and more rewarding wilderness experience.
