Tour Information

The Namib Desert & Sossusvlei

Stretching from the historic Canyon Roadhouse and the dramatic Fish River Canyon, the route winds south-west along the scenic C13 to the Atlantic outpost of Lüderitz — a windswept diamond town perched on the edge of the desert. From here the journey turns inland to Sesriem, gateway to the towering red dunes of Sossusvlei and the ghostly white pans of Deadvlei, among the most photographed landscapes on the continent.

Route highlights include:

  • Fish River Canyon, the second-largest canyon in the world
  • Lüderitz’s colonial architecture and Diaz Point
  • Sesriem Canyon and the towering dunes of Sossusvlei
  • Deadvlei’s ancient camelthorn trees
  • The Atlantic coast at Swakopmund and Walvis Bay

Kaokoland & the Epupa Falls

North of Damaraland, the route climbs into the remote Kaokoland — home to the semi-nomadic Himba people and some of Namibia’s most rugged, untouched wilderness. The journey follows the Kunene River to the thundering Epupa Falls, where the river tumbles over a series of dramatic drops framed by towering makalani palms, before continuing east along the river to Ruacana Falls and the Cubango River.

What makes this stretch special:

  • Rugged mountain scenery through Palmwag and Kaokoland
  • The thundering Epupa Falls on the Kunene River
  • Ruacana Falls and the Cubango River
  • Traditional Himba communities along the route
  • Remote, unfenced wilderness camping

Namibia Adventure Tour – FAQ

Your tour includes all camping and national park fees, a professional guide, dinner daily, and VHF radio communication throughout the convoy.

Breakfast, lunch and drinks, fuel costs and border fees are for your own account.

Yes. The route crosses remote gravel roads, riverbeds and sandy tracks — including the Kaokoland and Kunene River sections — so a high-clearance 4×4 is essential.

A valid passport with at least six months’ validity and blank pages, plus your vehicle’s registration papers, are required. Your guide will confirm any additional cross-border documentation closer to departure.

Late April, at the tail end of the rainy season, offers green landscapes, flowing rivers and pleasant daytime temperatures — ideal conditions for both the desert and river sections of the route.
