This 19-day guided self-drive 4×4 safari takes you through Zimbabwe’s most iconic and remote wild places in a single seamless adventure — from the thunder of Victoria Falls to the Zambezi floodplains of Mana Pools, with six extraordinary destinations in between. Most nights are spent in unfenced wilderness campsites under vast African skies, with a freshly prepared dinner from our bush chef every evening.

Victoria Falls is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Zambezi River plunges 108 metres into a narrow basalt gorge along a 1 708-metre-wide curtain of water — creating the world’s largest sheet of falling water by combined width and height. In April, the falls are at or near peak flow, when the spray rises hundreds of metres and can be seen from 50 kilometres away.
Chizarira is one of Zimbabwe’s least-visited and most remote national parks — a vast, rugged escarpment wilderness of deep gorges, mopane woodland and breathtaking views over the Zambezi Valley. Elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo and sable roam through terrain that sees very few visitors, making every sighting feel genuinely wild and unhurried.
Hwange National Park is Zimbabwe’s largest national park and one of Africa’s great elephant sanctuaries, home to one of the highest concentrations of elephants anywhere on the continent. The park covers 14 651 km² of Kalahari sandveld, mopane scrub and open teak woodland, supporting an extraordinary diversity of wildlife.

April is an excellent time for Zimbabwe. The rains are ending, the bush is green and lush, temperatures are comfortable, and Victoria Falls is at or near its peak flow for maximum spectacle. Wildlife is active and well-distributed, and the parks are less crowded than the peak dry-season months. Mana Pools in April offers exceptional elephant activity around Long Pool.

Mana Pools is one of the only national parks on the continent where visitors are permitted to leave their vehicles and walk unaccompanied. The open Albida woodland, with exceptional visibility in all directions, makes this a remarkable and unforgettable experience when approached with care and respect for animal behaviour.
Yes. All seven destinations on this route require a high-clearance 4×4 — from the sandy tracks of Hwange to the remote escarpment roads of Chizarira and the Zambezi floodplain access at Mana Pools. Off-road trailers are welcome; large caravans are not recommended for the wilderness campsites.
